Where to buy Kefir and Kombucha in Seoul?
« on: September 11, 2014, 03:30:55 PM »
Hi,

I just moved to Seoul recently. Does anyone know where to buy Kefir or Kombucha? Thanks and hope you can help me!

TOTALLY second this request! I've seen some older posts about sharing SCOBYs, but (1) they're old and (2) they got lots and lots of replies. So, there's demand here.

Isn't there a Handmade Market in Seoul where a kombucha brewer has sold before? I don't have an active facebook account, but I saw a link for someone like that.

My partner, who drinks kombucha every. Single. Day in the US, is coming late Oct. I'm trying to prepare for her to get here! Any help appreciated!!

Do a search for 곰부차 on Gmarket and scobies should come up - though I don't know how high quality they are. I got a scoby off of someone in my town but I think it's an old one, as the brew tends to be a bit sluggish.

I haven't seen kefir anywhere but I know you can make it by mixing a culture powder into regular milk and waiting a few days/weeks. Let me know if you ever find it. I really miss that stuff.

I might be wrong, but I think you can get kefir starter off of Iherb.

Just looked it up, you're right! I'll order some this weekend and see if it is any good.

Found a mother on GMarket--thanks!! And if I don't blow something up in my apartment, my partner will thank you too.
