Loooong disciplinary lectures
« on: March 26, 2011, 07:56:01 AM »
In my MS many of the KTs bring their misbehaving Ss into the Teacherís Office to address typical off-task behavior; I donít include fisticuffs which has its own procedure.

Teachers will place a hand on a misbehaving studentís shoulder, occasionally hold a studentís hand or stand the student in front of them and quietly soliloquize for 10, 15, 20 minutes, occasionally longer. Most Ss stare at the ground and say nothing, some cry.  These do not appear to be actual discussions. Iíve noticed this procedure in my Elementary and Middle schools.

Iím very curious about what they are saying for those lengths of time.  When I ask the KTís what theyíve said, they respond ďwe talk about what has happened.Ē  Can any Korean speakers or others in-the-know enlighten me?
