Types of Birth Control Options Available in Korea
« Reply #41 on: October 30, 2013, 10:39:35 AM »
I don't want to get into a religious or moral debate here, so I'm just going to provide the facts. Here are what people use as birth control (preventing getting pregnant and/or terminating an early pregnancy) methods here in Korea. Whether you think these options are right or wrong is up to you, I'm just letting you know what options are out there. http://tenderembracebirthing.blogspot.com/2013/10/types-of-birth-control-available-in.html

A Completely Hands Birth Plan for the 121 (US military hospital at Yongsan)
« Reply #44 on: November 21, 2013, 09:27:09 AM »
Here's a birthing plan for a military family at the 121. While some people may think that the language is strong, this family knew exactly what they wanted and wanted to make sure that the hospital staff did their best to accommodate their wishes. You can find the birth plan here, http://tenderembracebirthing.blogspot.com/2013/11/a-completely-hands-off-for-121-military.html

This was originally in a table format in Word, but I couldn't figure out how to do it like that in blogger. If you want the original format, feel free to email me at naturegirl321@yahoo.com and I can send it to you. Some people think cord blood banking is the way to go as far as curing diseases goes. It hasn't been around too long, so your research and find out if the company can help ship the cord blood back home if you leave Korea. Although based on births in the US, the Business of Being Born still has a lot of similarities to birthing in Korea, where C-section rates in both countries are around 30%. You can find out more about the movie as well as resources here, http://tenderembracebirthing.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-business-of-being-born.html

Umbilical Cord Wrapped Around Baby's Neck
« Reply #51 on: December 12, 2013, 01:21:07 PM »
You may have heard that umbilical cords wrapped around a baby's neck is bad since it can strangle the baby. Wikipedia says that 6-37% of babies have a nuchal cord (cord wrapped 360 degrees around the neck). VBAC facts states that around 25-35% of babies have nuchal cords. Texas Tech University of Health Sciences states that it's around 50%. Some (1-3%) babies have the cord wrapped around their neck more than once. Read more at, http://tenderembracebirthing.blogspot.com/2013/12/umbilical-cord-wrapped-around-babys-neck.html

Another really cool video out there about birthing. Unlike the Business of Being Born which is available on YouTube, you'll have to pay if you want to see this video. The preview, however, is free. You can find links and more info here, http://tenderembracebirthing.blogspot.com/2014/01/organic-birth-birth-is-natural.html

Breastfeeding in Public in Korea
« Reply #57 on: February 25, 2014, 11:02:15 AM »
I was recently asked what Koreans think about breastfeeding in public. I have to say that only once have I had an issue with it. I have no qualms about breastfeeding in public and have done so on the subway, bus, and even walking down the street cradling my daughter when she was sleeping. Walking out of the hospital hours after giving birth
« Reply #58 on: March 06, 2014, 11:44:25 AM »
I'm sure we've all seen movies where women are wheeled out of the hospital in wheelchairs. We've also heard of women who work in the fields who squat, give birth, and go back to the fields. It's totally possible to walk out of the hospital after giving birth. You can read more about my experience here, http://tenderembracebirthing.blogspot.com/2014/03/walking-out-hours-after-giving-birth.html
