Yes Samaria/Samaritan Girl is an odd one; some good observations. It is by the art house Korean director, Kim Ki Duk; his films are interesting as they tend to show what is beneath the vaneer in South Korea and can often be difficult to watch in terms of style and subject. However his Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... Spring is a stunning film exploring Buddism which is a million miles away from his other works. Watched his The Bow a couple of weeks back;interesting but then the ending spun me out of my senses.

The latest movie I watched was Prometheus and it was super dissapointing... A good korean movie to watch is "The man from nowhere", it's kind of a korean version of the movie "Taken".

I just finished watching HUGO. It's an excellent flick, but do be aware that it is long and the pacing is rather slow. Loved the setting!! Great story!!

Sorry Harpoinseoul. Honestly I LOVE that film. I guess it definitely isn't for everyone. What movie would you suggest?
I guess that I'm getting old. (I'm 49.) ;-) I loved MIDNIGHT IN PARIS. The new 21 JUMP STREET wasn't too shabby. Busy watching some cool TV shows. More later.

I recently watched 'Goon' - very silly and lots of fun and 'Cleanskin' which was a very good movie.
It's nice to be important but more important to be nice.

Loved Cabin in the Woods! It was a refreshing change of pace.

I finally got around to watching Gangs of New York the other day. Awesome, awesome film.

This is late but I saw The Dark Knight Rises the day it came out... AMAZING! I'm biased though because a) I really like Batman movies  b) I love Christian Bale c) I have always liked Anne Hathaway d) I also like Tom Hardy but you would never know it was him as Bane! and e) there is a handful of great actors that I really like in this series: Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gary Oldman! I thought it was all around a great flick and will possibly go see it again! I think it is safe to say that it is my favorite film of the year so far! I really liked The Avengers too but this topped it for me! I saw it in IMAX and didn't really notice that much of a difference so I would say it is safe to just watch it in a regular theater but you definitely should see it in the theater.

seen some harrowing docs recently:
'into eternity' about the catholic hush-up of the case of a paedophile priest operating in California. Shocking beyond words.
'taxi to the dark side' about the US army's systemic abuse/use of torture and subsequent attempts to cover it up.
[Actually, I read about another doco called 'the invisible war' which is about the rape culture within the US military
( a woman being statistically more likely to be raped by her fellow soldiers than be killed in combat) and attempts to cover it up (natch)].
Forks Over Knives is an interesting doco about the implications of the 'China Study' - anyone with a family history of heart disease or breast cancer should watch it....

Saw Rock Of Ages via torrent today, because it had closed in Seoul.

Glad I didn't spend the money.  I knew within a few minutes of the start, when I saw Tom Cruise wearing the most disgusting codpiece I'd ever seen, that it would be pretty awful.

There were some fun parts, though.  Worth a torrent, but not something I'd suggest people pay to see.

i've been doing a roger moore bond marathon this week. his bond is... decidedly cheeky, and i think i like it. apart from the hokier moments in some of his outings, they are quite good. i just finished "for your eyes only" yesterday, and i'll follow up with "octopussy" and "a view to a kill" this weekend.

AVTAK i am most interested about because i used to have it on vhs as a young, wide-eyed teen. i hope it lives up to my memory!

Taeyang, as an 11 year old, LIVE AND LET DIE freaked me out at the drive in. (Parents smuggled us in back in '74.) Very cool flick. A bit dated, but still cool.

BTW, MIDNIGHT IN PARIS is playing at World Cup stadium at around 9:30 - 10 pm ish. A great movie!!

Watched Mission Impossible 44. Not bad.
New Batman was awesme!
Pirates (clamaition) very cute

Might go and see TOTAL RECAL~what do you think?

Last movie I watched was Snow White and the Huntsman. For reasons I won't get into, I hadn't been to a cinema in six years and was pleasantly surprised to find the experience was rather lovely. Good movie.

Must admit I prefer series to movies. Just finished season 3 of Community and s6 of Criminal Minds and Midsomer Murders.

Long live TV!

21 jumpstreet was hilarious

The Dictator, ok. Good social commentary. Love sbcs irreverence (more like anti-reverence). Great concept but relatively few laughs.

I watched THE MILLIONAIRE TOUR ~ very bizarre! A twisty plot with lots of surprises. A very good flick.

The latest movie I watched today was Do-duk-dul(Thieves in English). It's a good Korean movie. If you can understand Korean, you can try. It is now on show.
