Vitamin String Quartet and string covers of popular songs.  Now that I've a 5-string, I essentially have a viola/violin in one combo which opens up a lot of options.  Can't find sheet music for this one so it looks like I'll be learning by ear  >:( Which is doable but far slower.  Mainly for the fast riff.  Like I would be happy to pay for the sheet music if it would just be available!

I love this dude's cover though:

I'd never listened to them much but I quite liked that!

Is black metal a thing in Korea?  I mean, are there Korean black metal bands??

I want to see some corpse paint lol

Hey! Yeah, black metal is a thing in Korea.  It's really underground and some of the bands rarely play live.   This is a video I shot for a Korean black metal band called Kryphos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQguFvMIAK8

Other Korean black metal bands are HuquemSaw, Nocturnal Damnation, Nocturnal Cremation (fun fact! Nocturnal Damnation and Nocturnal Damnation are going to play a show together in March 2018 called NOCTURNAL DOMINATION!!!) (I know, I know, I was pushing for Nocturnal Emissions too), Peaz Deaz (it's a Korean/Russian mix band so the name means "Peaceful Death" in Russian) and Dark Mirror ov Tragedy. (which is technically Doom Metal but they go all out with the corpse paint).   GBN Live House is the home of black metal in Seoul.

Dua Lipa.  Love that she has a deeper tone.  And she's so young, so it'll be cool to see her grow and evolve as an artist.

Indo girl sent me a video of her singing Scared to be Lonely (Martin Gerrix) by her in an Indonesian Karaoke.

Feels. hahaha  I'd almost gotten over the whole thing but that video made me realise that I loved her.

Cool thanks for the info!

Kryphos...wow.  They are REALLY good.  How old are they?

I'm listening to their demo now (Suicide Suite) and it sounds like Xasthur!!  I'm in heaven

Yeah, they're a real hidden gem!  It drives me nuts they never play live.  They've existed for about 4 years, the members are really different in their ages and backgrounds.  I agree, they have a real Xasthur vibe.  I'm obviously biased but they're my favourite "bedroom black metal" band, especially for Suicide Suite.  Their new album was professionally recorded and is actually signed with a Chinese label.      If you like GrindCore and Technical /Blackened Death Metal then you're going to be pleasantly surprised.  There are a ton of Korean bands that play almost monthly in those genres.  My go to is Fecundation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xeezCfEgaQ

Others that are great are Imperial Domination, Seed, Method, Disecktist.

Black metal <3

I'm so glad there are other people who enjoy it here. Got any leads for where to see some of them play? Any facebook groups or anything? I used to go to Korean punk shows back when Skunk Hell was a thing--but I haven't really gone to anything since then.

There's a "Korean Punk and Hardcore" Facebook group which lists gigs but I never see anything up my street (I don't think I've ever seen any black metal, but there seems to be a lot of bad death and thrash).

Like michaelodwyer23 was saying above, it looks like Seoul is pretty much the only place to see Black Metal.  I'm in Busan

Hey!  Yeah, there are a few groups.  The most comprehensive one is here: https://www.facebook.com/koreanpunkandhardcore?ref=br_tf
This Global Headbangers living in Korea.

SkunkHell has moved to MullaeDong.  It's literally a block away from GBN Live House.  Most of the underground music scene has moved away from HongDae to MullaeDong.

This is GBN LiveHouse.  The home of metal, weird, experimental, punk, etc music in Seoul.

Enjoy!

This is lit.

They play the Korean version of this at least once a week at one of my schools. They do it in the morning while the children walk in circles around the track.

Sorry if the information has already been posted but you know about the band Traitor in Busan, right?   When Manixive broke up they basically reformed as Traitor and they're honestly a better band.  It's not Black Metal but it's my favorite band in Busan.

Also, Club Realize in Busan puts on most of the underground shows in Busan I think.  The Geeks, Gwamegi, and the other Busan bands play there pretty regularly.
