I made this prezi for grade 3, lesson 1.

http://prezi.com/rpzqjxobkywb/the-news/

And here is one for grade 2, lesson 1.

http://prezi.com/brhkwae2ynle/goals/

Follow up the grade 3 prezi with an activity. Here's what I did, have the students make their own news article with a headline, name of news paper company, etc. to get them used to the vocabulary words associated with the news. Even have them draw a picture on their article. I find that the students enjoyed this activity and they even came up with some funny news stories.

Are you still going to upload your grade 2 stuff Rowan?   :D

I'm using this for my 3rd grade classes. It's my first year teaching English so I'm a bit anxious. Is it a good textbook to work with? I have Middle School English for my first years, and it doesn't look to be that great.

Grade 2 lesson 5 and lessons 4-6 review material. Lesson 6 seems to have gone missing for some reason.

I must say that a lot of the stuff I put up needs work, teaching here has been a steep and long learning curve. So have a good look an use stuff as a base but please don't use it as it is! And post up your stuff!

It's not a great book but it's not terrible either, it seems to be somewhere in the middle in terms of popularity going by the number of posts on this thread. I'm very keen to see what you come up with for the third grade.

BTW If you post more than 5 posts then you'll be able to see the downloads.

I am just starting this textbook.  Anyone have good suggestions for Lesson 1?  "Everything is new"  I have never taught before and my middle schoolers are a bit difficult.  They are not willing to participate much.  Need help with motivation also!  Thanks!

First grade lessons 1 and 2.

P.S. NadinaV you'll need to make at least 5 posts before you can see the downloads.

I found these from last year's materials. I did not make them and they probably were meant for another book but the material works great for explaining "You should..." sections of Lesson 1 for grade 2.

lilaznjock- i think my school updates every few years. for me, it looks like 1st grade (2008), 2nd (2009), and 3rd (2010).

Rowanteacher- as always, I love your stuff! thanks for uploading so many materials.

is there ANY way the Admins could make this type of thread organized? the search is scetchy at best and it's nearly impossible wading through pages upon pages of posts to find lesson ideas.

just something simple, like grouped by grade, lessons in order, something to that effect... :blank:

Here is another activity for 3rd grade, lesson 1.

I got the newspaper template from a different thread. I made some changes and added pictures. The aim is for the students to write a headline and an article (a couple of sentences) to describe what is happening in the pictures. Let them use their imaginations and come up with their own stories.

Thanks Tom, looks great!

It would be great to have an index for this thread, I'll have a look and try to make an index post if I have time.

No one else at all on these books this year!?

I'm saddled with them, Grades 2 and 3 at Haeyeon Middle in Busan. For my first week I've been trying to do an intro lesson... it's been going so-so, some good, some weak lessons. Mega props for uploading your lesson plans though, I get the feeling they'll come in dead helpful this year. I'm two days in and already exhausted, defeated and overawed!

Thanks Rowan. Have you ever been to the Elementary side of Waygook? The indexes broken down by grade, down by lesson, and category. it's slick and easier...just a thought

Hey Ritzckrakr, I know what you're saying but to be fair to the mods and all, the whole elementary education system in Korea is taught with one set of textbooks whereas middle schools have at least half a dozen books the school can choose from hence a sticky thread for each textbook.
