Did US politics make a hard turn right or...
« on: March 15, 2019, 04:22:04 PM »
is this forum held hostage by a few green frogs from Kekistan?
Just noticing how oddly so, on a forum for mostly left wing orientated teachers, right wing viewpoints seem to be prevalent.

The default for EFL teachers, probably everyone in Western education has always been and still is left wing/liberal. The very few people who actually discuss politics on here I'd say were split around fifty fifty left and right.

Be prepared for a lot of people to claim they're neither, like the post above. People don't like to be labelled these days for the reasons given above. Anyone vaguely on the right = a nazi and it's OK to punch a nazi.

I'm neither right wing nor left wing but apparently these days you can only be one or the other, and if you say something the left doesn't like you're a racist fascist Nazi what-have-you.

Yes. What a moderate centrist you are.

Obviously brown people can do no wrong. This is why statistics and "science-I-don't-agree-with" gets conveniently ignored, and Hollywood creates fantasy African utopias like Wakanda that I think some people actually believe is real. From the continent that couldn't invent the wheel, which I guess is also the white man's fault.

I'd probably just say all democrats/liberals in general I could do without.

The right wingers (eggieguffer, CDW, etc.) post more often, especially about politics.

Most English teachers in Korea are young guys and gals with a more liberal mindset... but most of those starting political threads unrelated to life in Korea are right wing middle aged men.

"I'm not a racist or a white supremacist. Now here are a bunch of links to bullshit so-called articles on racist, white supremacist 'news' websites."

How dumb do they think we are? Just because they think violent fascism is a hilarious lark doesn't mean the rest of us do.

. Carry on with your fascinating posts.

You obviously find them at least vaguely interesting judging by how often you respond to them. You'll notice that I very rarely reply to your posts about pollution.

No they won't but they are likely to call people on the right white supremacists, racists, fascists, middle aged, green frogs from Kekistan etc.. It's water off a duck's back to me so I'm happy to admit my political views veer right of centre but there are probably others who don't like being called names when they go online, or in real life, so keep their politics to themselves.

Korea absentee ballots were overwhelming for Bernie last election AFAIK

The red hat types have been driven off many forums and so they settle on random ones that arenít as heavily moderated or as high traffic. Or thatís the story Iíve been told

So, the USA is still a mellow, goodish, big giant with the one-off green froggies hopping around here?
And most teachers in K. are relatively well-natured people, right? This forum definitely does not portray that well.
Phew.  :azn:

The Gayle King interview with R Kelly is a perfect parallel of what goes on here any time someone steps up to defend themselves against accusations of racism. Every time I see those clips I think of this place.

The labels are usually quite polar.

Itís like sitting on top of a big letter ďㅅĒ

If you are slightly off center, you just slide off into the extremes!

Mate, I'm not, I'm lib-dem, but this forum is making me feel like everyone's off their rocker and became nuts and I'm suddenly left wing Antifa.

But no, in the normal world I'm the grumpy conservative right wing person, believing in liberal policies so this forumis not normal with all these Kekistani with their nazi regalia.

Like...how is it possible for these guys to function while blatantly lying to themselves and making these statements even a 12 year old could disprove?

What schools are evaluating and graduating these people???
