2019 F5 Visa changes.
« on: February 14, 2019, 09:31:49 AM »
Open the floodgates 2xGNI income requirement is no longer a requirement its now 1xGNI and level 4 TOPIK or KIIP.
I gotta admit its got me frustrated I worked four jobs last year to beat the income requirement go to immigration and Iím no longer qualified for the visa. Now I need to study Korean again I just passed TOPIK 2 to get the F visa now its all bait and switch. Anyways call 1345 if youre interested in the new regulations.

Thanks for the info, though.

Just called that number. Was told I need 2X the GNI (over 66 million) and above TOPIK level four.

Damn you, Texas Chicken. You got my hopes up!

I called 1345 and they said its 2xGNI plus TOPIK 4 or KIIP 5. Depending on who I talk to i get different answers so frustrating. I asked why they dont update the english immigration site she said well sir immigration laws change almost daily so its too difficult for us to update it..... what a joke

It wouldn't make a lot of sense.
The points visa effectively requires KIIP/TOPIK4 already. It'd be strange if the higher level visa had the same requirements. I'd certainly welcome it though. I don't feel like setting up a study room or taking on a bunch of tutoring to meet the income requirement.

Actually, no. I know many who got it with TOPIK 3 or TOPIK 2. How? Through higher income. 8 million a month +.

Perhaps we might want to clarify the "points" visa under discussion. There are at least two that I know of: the F2-7 and the F5-11. I'm sure you're referring to the F2-7? I got the F2-7 with just a KIIP 3 level certificate. Job experience abroad and my doctorate gave me points to make up for my lower F2-7 points in language ability.

I can pass TOPIK 1 with a fair amount of difficulty.  TOPIK 4 is
almost fluent Korean.

Korea is moving very quickly into extinction phase.  Locals do not
want to have children.  This should be a wake up call to policy
makers.  But instead of bolstering the population with youthful
immigrants, Korea is continuing with xenophobic, nationalistic
laws designed to limit population inflows.

On Korea's tombstone will be the epitaph:

                Korea

             RIP

         One  Blood

          Fighting!

I think in the past some guys who were on the F2 after being married a few years could apply for the F5 and get it easily.  Now there is the language requirement some of the vets told me, but they are grandfathered in.
