Currently smoky weather in Bangkok and other areas of Thailand.

It's quite 'smoky' in some areas of Thailand at the moment.

"Pollution levels also rose elsewhere in Thailand, bringing a heavy haze to Chiang Mai and other northern areas well ahead of the annual "smoky season" that normally begins in late February, when farmers burn agricultural waste and dry weather allows airborne particles to accumulate".

Sounds like a good location for a "Smokey and the Bandit" remake.

There are a lot of air quality problems in Bangkok right now, and Pattaya is also getting
bad.

Got back from Thailand yesterday, but was in the north (Chiang Mai area and north...) and it wasn't bad at all for the two weeks I was there... lovely cloudless blue skies every day.

However, the haze started rolling in a couple of days before I left (although my mates  - Canucks, Poms, Aussies, etc. who live there told me it usually starts getting hazy in February...). This time however, they did say it was worse than normal, and, when I flew out from Chiang Mai it was really getting hard to make out the hills and the city below...

I really hope this isn't going to be a real lasting issue; Bangok is absolutely horrendous - worse than Seoul these days!
