i think the kids would be bored depending on how old they are.  every time i switch between screens at work to see what they are doing, it's just more walking.  you could tell them it's a korean lotr and the presidents are making their way to mt doom.

Yeah no classes today, surprise!!! But the live coverage is just experts now anyways.

Maybe we will do a poster or something next week.

moon would have to be frodo.  kim as sam is just too good to pass up.

this would make for an interesting topic.  especially as a poster, pamphlet, of flyer project.  it'll be kind of cool to see kids draw a map of korea with north and south included.

So Trump is Gollum, obviously.

Yeah the unification flag they used at the Olympics is a pretty good sign.

The Formal and Long Awaited Meeting of North and South

Two happy leaders with a lot in common!

Apparently Kim Jongun brought some traditional nangmyeon noodles for Moon to "enjoy". I hope Moon has a food taste tester.

Kim Jong-un stepped on the threshold separating the Koreas twice when meeting Moon (who deftly stepped over it). Isn't that bad luck?

"Setting foot on a threshold can bring misfortune. This superstition originates from the time of the Mongol invasions of Korea. In Korean culture, it is preferable for one to die at home and for the body to remain in the home for some time. Leaving the house in a coffin was a means to dispose of the lingering attachment to the world, with the threshold of the front door thought to be a boundary between this world and the afterlife. Therefore, for a living person to step on the threshold of a door is considered a sign of bad luck."

That explains why my wife and mother in law freak out when I do it all the damn time. God, I hate superstitions. I actually have a tiny bit of respect for fatty crapping on superstition like that.

Before we go giving Kim Jong-un the Nobel for bringing enlightenment to the peninsula, I suspect he stepped on it only because he wasn't sure his legs could get all the way across. (nb I adore short people!)

I believe the catchy rhyme they created to remember that particular superstition is, "Step on a threshold sill and your favorite uncle a pack of dogs is sure to kill."

I seriously doubt we will see any unification come out of these meeting, a formal Treaty ending the Korea war and normalizing relations is possible, though unlikely. If Unification did occur its likely that it would be years before the North and South were fully joined, its likely that the North would work with Southern and US help to rebuild its economy and infrastructure enough that that unification wouldn't cause as much of a shock to the WON or the economy.

I have a question.  Is it Moon 문  재 Jae (Jay like Jay Z) 인 In   or Moon Jai ( 자  +  이 = Jai) In.

CNN has been calling him Jai and Arirang along with other media outlets have called in Jae/Jay

I always understood ㅐ as  ae or eh as in 새 Bird Seh.  But my coteacher said it's 아 + 이 = 애   So then it would be Ahi

My co-teacher said it is Jai but pronoucned Jae Jay......   I'm sure she is right but she said it's prounced Jae....not Jai.   Clarifiication

Yeah I was about to say 문제 is problem in Korean.  And 에does sound like "eh" as well as 애 sounds like "eh" too.  I'm going to file this under "I will never learn Korean and that's why I suck" folder and just call him Moon Jai In like Jai as in Michael Jai White and think about how good he was in the movie "Spawn"   8) 8) ;D ;D

Your co was just saying that the 'Jay' is 재 (아+이 = 애, pronounced 'eh') rather than 제 (어+이, pronounced 'eh').

Here is a transcript of  the handshake moment:

문: 어서 오세요.
Moon: Welcome.

Kim: Pleased to meet you.

Moon: Any difficulties coming?

Kim: No. I’m pleased to be here.

My heart really won’t stop fluttering.

Due to meeting in a historic place such as this.

I am also very impressed with the fact that the President has come to this demarcation line to welcome me.

Moon: Coming here was a very courageous decision for the Chairman.

Kim: No, no. No, it wasn’t.

Moon: A historic moment has been made.

Kim: I’m pleased to be here.

Moon: Would you stand over here, please?

Thinking of letting the students watch this.

No. This is too much for them with regards to English learning and subject matter.
