I just had my first bad lesson with my favourite class. :'( Not because they weren't behaved, but because I didn't realize the jump in difficulty in the book lessons. The first 2 book lessons had gone really well. The students either found it too easy, or just the right level of difficulty. I thought today, when we started lesson 3 in the book, would be the same, but it ended up being too hard; and then I started getting muddled up and confused, because I thought it would be a good challenge, but not too difficult. Haha. Luckily my co-teacher saved me. And I can redo the lesson the next time I see them (which is in 2 weeks).
I know, every teacher has an off-day (or off-class), but this is still bumming me out a bit! :'(

Why are the Americans so into Politics? They're relentless. Every day they wake up and start half a dozen new threads on a Korean website about American politics. Most of the posters have lived here for 10+ years and probably don't even vote but they harp on about it day after day after day. Would they not be better off back home eating waffle fries with a gun hanging out the back of their jeans in some diner in the middle of nowheresville complaining to the waitress about it all?

None of the other E2 countries ever seem to mention politics from back home.
Going away golfing excitedly venturing to somewhere unknown carefree knowing my youthful demeanour is craving ketchup.

Today a bird pooped *in* my car.

I was ahead of schedule for a factory visit, so I stopped at a CU for a coffee and kimbap. I went back to my car, rolled down the window, and a little finch-type bird flu in, craps on my dash, and leaves.

Yeah it is weird. And boring. Because every one of those threads devolves into the two entrenched sides saying the same shit. Aurata posting links to some random blog he thinks is gospel. ChesterJim and CDW posting their awful opinions. Gogators squwaking. And Martin acting like a know it all bore.

Hey Americans. Shut the fcuk up. No one cares. Go post on the Hannity forums.

Let me let you in on a secret: Other Americans are annoyed by it, too. It's the same small handful of people doing it every time, and I'd wager the majority of Americans here wish they'd knock it off.

Wholeheartedly agree with this bit, I just don't understand why they're doing it here. There are so many other places for them to go and it just puts people off. Or have it in some weird bit of the website that never shows up on the front page.

I hate that lesson planning / teaching threads are pushed off to the side but the wasting time type of threads (Including this one) are front and center.

I've been trying hard to get some of my students to stop saying "F&*(".
Just now, one of the Korean teachers, who has super low English, just sounded like they said "Oh, F$%^!" In front of the students who are cursing like sailors. The boy who uses bad words the most just yelled at me: Teacher, teacher. 'Korean' teacher just said $%^&!
The Korean teacher hadn't said that, but it sounded awfully close to it haha.

Though, I will admit, I did laugh at this haha.

most of the lesson plans and ppts on this site are horrendous*, and it's easier to make your own than to sift through all the dross

*not all, some of it is really well done

I meant the discussions really.

Sometimes people have questions or good ideas and no one sees it.

Most ESL teachers in SK are from the US, apparently, so it makes sense that they'll dominate the political debates.
Nothing wrong with complaining, criticizing or politics, it keeps the mind sharp, particularly from those who've been here for a while and most of their friends have left. Having discussions with Koreans in Korean or English is fine for communicating, but it's exceptionally difficult to have complicated discussion in your 2nd language.

I've always felt this site has way too many forums and sub-forums.  Once something falls from the recent activity forum it's pretty much done.  It might have been an interesting topic, a true masterpiece even, that just was posted in an unfortunate crack of time and it's missed.  I don't know about others but I've never gone into the forums page and just perused.  I think this site would benefit more from having just a few broader topics like the café used to. You could find posts you were interested in for a much longer period of time.  Just take a scroll through the forum page.  It's ridiculous how much they've broken things down.  Who's going to bother going into all of those?  Probably a lot of good stuff is going unnoticed.

There just be a forum called "Shooting the sh*t" for the bored at work rambling conversations, "Politics" for the fervent few, "DeMartino's Den" so others are free to skip by and finally a "Sh*t that happened to Bingsu on the Job today" thread for everyone's enjoyment.  I'd like to see one dedicated to the incoherent babblings of Foreverparadise but only he could come up with an appropriate name.

Sometimes when I have very little to do, I go searching on these forums for something interesting to read.

Does this happen to anyone else, daily? I stand to the side of the subway doors, to let people off first. Everyone behind me piles on, pushing in front of me, also blocking anyone getting off. Makes no sense, and it's so rude...
