Fast Food Tales

IHOP, that iconic massive heart attack inducing breakfast place is rebranding...for hamburgers!!!

My Fast Food Tale: At an IHOP in N. Carolina. Me and a friend bet to see who pays for breakfast.

Question: "What is the capital of N. Carolina?" I said Raleigh; my friend said Charleston.

The server came with coffee and asked what we wanted. She was 50 something and extremely nice. We ordered and told her of our bet. We asked if she was from around there. She said she'd lived in that town her entire life. We asked her what the capital of N. Carolina was. We even told her our answers.

She said, "Let me go ask the manager."

I was correct. My friend paid for breakfast, and at IHOP...breakfast is amazing. Or at least it was.

I prefer Waffle House, that is as long as there aren't any white nationalists around to shoot up the place.

Waffle House is one of the few things I miss about America (that and Five Guys). IHOP was never too appealing to me, and it always had very long waits when I tried to go.

Awesome as that is, itís not really fast food, though.

My father-in-law calls his cat Perkins; it is a family favorite.

Wasn't the point of that original post that the woman from North Carolina had to go ask the manager what the capital of North Carolina was?

The point of the OP was sharing ridiculous or incredible stories you've experienced at a fast food joint, not which is your favourite or whatever.

As a Canadian and a Quebecer I also liked Chez Cora. I met her once in Quebec City, her original restaurant and she told me her story. Husband left her for a younger woman. She was stone cold broke and in danger of being homeless. She opened her first place with totally borrowed money from friends who thought she had a good idea and her husband was bad man, man! She was getting rich by then. She must be rolling in it now.

Similar story but not quite fast food exactly.

Back in the day, I worked at a cinema outside of Seattle a girl from another high school who thought Tacoma was the capital of Washington State.

Nowadays, she's a Physician's Assistant...
