Yesterday's lunch was great. Gamja tang, Vienna sausages, mushroom/beef/veggie stir fry. Today's lunch was noodles, rice and doughy soup. I guess they used up all the protein on Monday. It's carbs for the rest of the week.

Something that kind of annoys me is when students say how interested they are in English, and that they like it and that they want to be English teachers, but then do diddlysquat in class and just sit there, or sleep, or chatter away the whole time.
I know. I think what they really mean is they like classes without homework and where they can get away with not studying.

Has anyone ever taught camp at an unknown school before??

My school is having construction so all summer vacation activities have been cancelled. My coteacher called the office of education and was told that we can't just do a 4 week camp in winter vacation, I have to go to another school. On top of that, not sure about the budget and she said there's a chance I might not have a coteacher either...

Now I'm super nervous because I'm being thrown into a completely unknown situation and have to go to some school I never been to..

I wish they'd just canceled the camp and call quits due to my school's problem

A big ole can o' worms. But briefly: Creepy guy from one of my schools who didn't understand boundaries and literally stalked me on my first weekends in Korea under pretense of "looking out for me" cause he's "such a nice person." Asshat

Married with wife and kid but tried to get me to go for coffee with him late at night on a weekend and would send me bizarre texts about how his daughter hates him. Gee wonder why

***Public service announcement*** We are approaching page 300 on this thread, which is, I believe close to the upper limit allotted for thread lengths. Screen cap everything if you want to preserve other people's misery for posterity, 'cause it may all vanish soon just like its previous iterations!

- why is like half the food sold in supermarkets here rotten. They can ship anything overnight from Gmarket, but they can't store chicken or fruit for a few days?

- why do Korean companies CONSTANTLY change the flavor of their items. Almond pepero now tastes like sawdust. Dr. Pepper here now tastes like popcorn soda. Orange demi-soda now tastes like watery orange juice.

- why are Koreans afraid of sodas being too fizzy. All the sodas here are soooo flat.

- why do all bottles and some cans of Sprite here taste like plasticky grass, while other cans taste like Sprite. At least 7-Up here is always good, but it's hard to find.

- why do the always exciting and sexy Hite and Cass ads never have "Literally the Worst Beer in the World" written at the bottom.

- why do so many ads have one person staring forward, either a man or a woman. In the West these kinds of ads would have a couple eating or whatever together, or at least a group of friends.

I like flat soda or those of the gently effervescent variety.  I'm that person.

There just seems to be a greater acceptance of half rotten food here. People seem to have no qualms with paying 3000won for a head a half brown, spongy brocolli, so they just keep on selling it. A homeplus was busted recently for just stickering over expiry dates on meat. "It's not too grey, give it another 5 days"

Or they just stick a layer of fresh beef over the old beef and discount it so it looks like you're getting nice beef at a good price.

I don't understand how an activity that I've played successfully in multiple forms over the last couple of years has bombed with my 4 newest classes.

I even tried changing the format with the next class when I realised it failed with the previous class.

I'm peeved and frustrated.

I like pizza. I don't like onions.

I ordered my pizza and went to get it.

Potatoes. Check.
Corn. Check.
Cheese crust. Check.
Onions. Nope, check.

As I'm leaving the lady tells me she added green peppers to give it flavour...

There are only two things I don't like on pizza. Onions are in the second most hated position...

WTF.

I feel your pain.

Pizza places used to refuse to make cheese-only pizza, because they said it wouldn't be delicious :) (they aren't the ones eating it...go figure).

Not necessarily, and I don't think the staff and customers at my Lotte Mart understand how avocados work. Rock hard and bright green avos, 2000 won each. Soft, dark green avos, with a few black spots, which nobody buys, 700W each. Thank you very much ;D

Woah woah woah, where at?

I'm thinking of walking to World Cup Market today because I remember seeing cheapish avos there.

only 930am and unnecessarily shoved 4 times already

- unnecessarily shoved on the subway
- unnecessarily shoved on the bus
- unnecessarily shoved in the lift
- unnecessarily shoved by workers (twice) in the supermarket

I fell onto several high school and junior high kids on the bus this morning. Consider it your revenge.

I love 킨 사이다 and I recently found out that it's just Sprite made for the Korean market. It tastes better than Sprite though. I think it must use real sugar instead of corn syrup.
