WHY? WHY? WHY?

Why don't Koreans use garbage can liners/trash bags to line the garbage cans?

Especially the TP bins in the bathroom! The TP gets emptied, but the bin is still nasty.

Find it strange how they're not bothered by shit/urine-stained bins. Dx

They just threw away literally hundreds of unused text books because the government changed a few pages. They have to buy updated ones so the old ones are going to be destroyed. I can't believe how wasteful that is or imagine how much money that costs.

Same happened at my school. I think I saw a dump truck worth.

You seem to be under the impression that the school has a tally of how many students it has, and how many will be registered for next year. You fool.

First day of the semester and I can already tell that this is going to be a very rough one. I am absolutely not feeling it.

Also, Mondays used to be one of my favorite days, but now I have 7 classes. -cry-

Windows 10 gets a lot of flack, but it is better than 7 or 8. Once you've changed about a thousand annoying privacy settings. You can make it look like 7 or 8 if you want to as well. If that's the problem.

I hate when schools decide to reinforce just how they feel about us foreign teachers.

Yesterday, my main school received a shipment of lovely new 2017 planners for each of the teachers. When the Korean teachers in my office stood up to grab theirs, my co-teacher waved for me to come along.

Cue the office admin having a meltdown, counting every planner while highlighting teacher names on a list she went and printed off.

She walked back in today, plucked mine off my desk, and loudly proclaimed (in Korean of course- had to be translated for me), that these were only for the Korean teachers.

I mean, fine.... but there's a stack gathering dust in her office now.

Go buy something you can share. Hand it around to everyone, except the office woman.

I honestly thought that after failing 26 students in one class, my school would figure it out that these students are terrible and I need some help, but no. This semester they are just as monster-y as ever before, but with the addition of 7 new students.

Sorry, but you "need some help" and "these students are terrible" might be mutually exclusive.  Are you sure it's not the students need some help and you are terrible?

I'm not saying that's the case, but if 26 students (assuming you don't have like 200 in the class) can't succeed, there is a serious disconnect somewhere.

Today is my last day of work. Went to drink the coffee and eat the bread that the office admin ladies made for me since it's my last day (it's just them, the VP, and me in the office today), when the school nurse came in to talk to the VP about something.

Now they're yelling at each other and the VP almost screamed at her. No idea what they're arguing about, except that it's something where the school nurse thinks she knows better than the VP. The only phrase I understood in full was the VP going "Hey, I'm the VP you know!!!"

One office admin lady tried to push the school nurse out into the hallway to calm her down, but school nurse wasn't having it.

Ugh. Now they are literally yelling at each other from opposite ends of the office.

No, it's not just me. They are like this for the entire school, but just more so for me as the foreign teacher. The school has had multiple meetings with all the teachers, principal and VP about this class and how to handle them, yet nothing actually happens. The reason that nearly the entire class failed is because they will fight in class, play on their phones, talk and yell the entire period, tell me no when I tell them to do something or just walk out of the classroom, throw chairs around the class (not often, but it still has happened more than once or twice), play cards, or sleep. The 5 students that passed were the ones that actually sat and listened and did the work. Out of 700 students in the school that I teach, this is the only one I have major issues with. So no, it's not just me.

the room where my desk and computer is has changed this semester. i'm in a different teachers' office. the school decided to buy a new desk for me and the other teachers who are moving offices, and to leave the other ones where they are, completely unused. why? they felt it was too difficult to move the desks. a task that could have easily been accomplished by 4 teachers.

and yet they'll always complain that we can't have the heating or aircon on because "no budget"

I'm somewhat sad to know that your posts on here are going to disappear. Do keep us updated on this screaming match, and how it turned out.

I'm not sure how to say this, but recently I've been thinking a lot about Koreans and dignity.  To me, dignity is one of, if not the most important thing to me.  I always think about it whenever I do something.  I'm not sure it is to some Koreans though.  Using school dinners as a loose example, teachers in their 40's and 50's getting absolutely smashed and becoming an absolute mess during the week.  Surely, as you get older you realise how to hold yourself with respect especially when it comes to drinking.  I mean who has a stupid argument across the office where someone pulls their rank out.  Dumb.
