omg.... why

so, I don't take the school lunch because it was both unhealthy and unappetizing 90% of the time (a "wow this is so good" day was getting a cold hamburger patty with tonkatsu sauce I'm not even kidding) and this is a source of concern for the new principal. I explained to her that it just has a lot of starch and I'm trying to eat less starchy foods and she was still concerned but didn't push me on it.

So, during lunch I usually take a relaxing nap in the rest room. I don't always actually nap, but it's nice to get away from all the noise and people in the main office. About half an hour I had settled in with my yo and pillow and was about to nap.

WHEN SOMEONE OPENS THE DOOR and unlike usual, doesn't just go "oh, someone's napping here, I'll take my phone call somewhere else" oh no, this person calls out "Moonbrie?"

It's the principal. Now she's concerned that I'm not feeling well, and I begin trying to explain that it's nice to rest after teaching 4 classes, but she puts something in my hands.

A bowl from the cafeteria full of that $hitty-a$$ fruit salad they like to eat. You know, the kind that's mostly apples with some mysterious white sauce on it. I have to eat it while she watches me, and then she disappears for a moment.

She comes back with two bowls of soup (some kind of mix between cream of vegetable and that cream soup they serve at tonkatsu places here) and another teacher, who also doesn't eat the school lunch. The other teacher tries to tell the principal to eat the other bowl of soup, but she isn't having it. So we both sit there and drink the soup until the principal leaves.

I guess I'm not napping today, at any rate.

I get flack for taking my phone with me to the john, and here's moonbrie taking naps in the restroom! :blank:

That's annoying. I really hate when people give me food I don't want and then watch me eat it. But do you just skip lunch completely or do you usually bring your own?

I used to bring lunch but I stopped because I discovered that if I take a nap during lunch I can get through the day without eating (sleep is an appetite suppressant)

Sometimes I'll bring a banana or a tangerine or some kind of small bready thing, but usually I don't. Or I eat whatever snacks the teachers brought to share with the office.

Wait, I was under the impression that this was an actual room for resting. But did Moonbrie actually bring a pillow to the loo? I'm now confused.

My brain initially interpreted "restroom" as in loo but that didn't make sense. The rest(ing) room or sickroom is a more logical choice for taking a pillow.

You don't sleep on the loo during school hours? O.o How else do you avoid getting given food you don't want to eat while being watched? It is the best thing to do, until the Korean teachers figure out, that they can slide the food under the door on a tray or plate, and listen to us eat it on the toilet. /endjoke. :P

lmfaoooo

It's a room for rest. There's even a closet full of yos and quilts and pillows. And it has a heated floor. Other people nap in there too.

Google translate is thoroughly useless sometimes (especially with Korean). I had literally typed in "요" and got "yo" in return.

They're not quite the same as the ones you put on your bed in place of a sheet - they're thicker.

Kind of Korean-style futon except in my experience Japanese futons are much thicker compared to Korean yos.

When I visited Japan once upon a time, the first place our group stayed at was a ryokan/traditional inn. The bedding was all those wonderful futons that you just roll up and store away in a closet afterward. I swear that was the most comfortable bed I'd ever slept in. Once I settle down somewhere I fully intend to get one of those.

There a few different sizes in terms of thickness but usually people will put the thicker one down first followed by the thinner one. Also, I don't think they're meant to take the place of your sheet but rather in addition to. :blank: I want to sleep now.

well you know, that bed pad that they put on the beds here that we don't use in the west. Those aren't the same as yos.

gmarket has gotta have the worst search function ever devised in the history of the internet.

how can searching for 'PS4' bring up a pair of pink women's Nike slippers within the first 10 items?  :lipsrsealed:

I think my boss teacher definitely (not so) secretly hates me. Whenever I do anything wrong (or just something she doesn't like) she always says "everyone saw [whatever]"

Last week when we had that fight, I don't remember if I wrote here, but she kept saying at one point "Everyone sees you" and I asked what that meant and she just repeated herself "Everyone sees you everyday" I said something like, ok, I'm sorry that no one likes me, and she said that wasn't what she meant

(On my mind because she got upset at me for something today and went on about how "everyone saw")

Have to vent. Anyone have clackers in their office? The people who hit their keyboards to hard it creates an annoying clacking sound? I know some keyboards clack louder than others, but I swear the women in my office really hit those keys hard. Driving me to my bose external sound reducing headphones with the trance up high....

I'm curious as well, what that could possibly mean. Is this the same one who you had the big argument with?
