Is reviewing not a thing here?

Me:  Ok, let's look at page 114.
*puzzled looks from students and CT

Me:  Oh sorry, 114 not 140.
*more puzzled looks and some murmuring

Me:  Yes, page 114.  One one four.
*CT scrunches up her face and comes over to check the page with me

The students finally tell me that we already did that page.

I just wanted to review the material, sheesh

Saturday night I usually have Dominoes, but every other night I cook for myself. A pizza a week is good for the soul. :P

So corny.

Like, literally corny.

There may literally be corn on that pizza.

On the pizza I get, there is literally corn on it. :P

I hate when my kids show up early to horse around in the classroom. It's usually the first graders and, not only does it dash my hopes that maybe class was cancelled, but they are so loud and just

I guess not because I get the same confusion about reviewing material as you do. And I review every class. First 5 minutes is always review time.

And yet they always act surprised. xD

I just googled to see if candy corn pizza was a thing. Like with using actual candy corn as a topping or crust ingredient.

It is not, at least not that I've been able to find.

Surprised someone hasn't tried it. I mean we have deep-fried butter and oreos. And dessert pizzas are a thing.

It could be a whole new seasonal market that no one's tapped into yet.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I mean, whomever wants it, cool. But for me personally, NOOOOOOOOOOOO

Deep fried butter? Wtf? I'm disturbed that's a real thing.

Now I've had a deep fried oreo (a single one is as much as I could eat in one sitting) before and it was actually pretty good. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. But definitely like a once a year treat, if even. I have also tried a deep fried candy bar before but the batter wasn't very good (imagine a corndog but the inside is a snickers bar instead).

Yeah, there are a couple of festivals in Texas where it's common to find deep-fried oreos. I've had both good and bad ones (the batter really does make all the difference), but yeah, it's not something I can have more than once a year. I wheeze a little every time I take a bite. When I first heard about fried butter, I thought it was like an urban myth. But it's a real thing.

For the pizza, they like to coat the cheese here with honey or other sugar-based things, so I figure they can melt down the candy-corn and brush it onto the cheese instead. And add crushed candy-corn along the outer crust as a baked on garnish.

You know you'd try it.

You should start a new line of pizzas. Chinguetti's Pizza. Or maybe you should open up your own pasta place instead. Chinguetti's Spaghetti. I would support you, even if it's candy corn pizza despite the fact that I think candy corn is disgusting.

It depends on the school.  From experience, the best way is just to pay one time in February.  Last year, my friend paid tax each month, and we were the same pay band.  When it came to February he got hit with a 1.2 million tax bill on top of his already paid monthly.  I didn't pay each month and come February I had to pay 1.2 million.  The strange thing is, as I have admin friends at other schools, I asked them about it.  They said both were correct calculations.  Which to me doesn't make sense.  So when I started this year at a new school, I said I only wanted to pay in February.  The admin said 'all the teachers' do that in this school, as a policy.

why doesn't it make sense? there are a number of different factors which influence how much tax you have to pay. deductions from debit and credit cards, medical expenses, salary, how much you spend, etc.

the guy who made monthly payments + 1.2 at the end obviously had less deductions than the guy who just paid 1.2. maybe the guy who paid more paid cash for everything, or didn't spend a lot of money each month, or any number of factors which could have influenced it.

Eating out is too expensive, and unhealthy, so that's not an option for me.

I don't have the korean ability to eat out. Where I am, the only places with an English menu are: Mcdonalds, Dominoes, Pizza hut, and Lotteria. A few places have pictures, but I'm a very fussy eater, so I need to know what is going into / onto my food. So I cook for myself so I know I'll enjoy it, and know that it will be (reasonably) healthy.
Saturday night I usually have Dominoes, but every other night I cook for myself. A pizza a week is good for the soul. :P

I would be so happy if there was just ONE fast food place in my town. There are only a handful of Korean restaurants and a lone Chinese restaurant. No hamburgers nor pizza, surprisingly not even a fried chicken joint. The woes of super rural life. Small complaint though, and I'm healthier for it I know, but still. On rare occasion the local mart will randomly stock some decent frozen pizza, so there's that at least.

I'd love to know of a chinese restaurant here. I've had a craving for sweet and sour pork for the last 6 weeks haha.

It's that time of the year I get ridiculously anxious about my review and whether or not I can renew my contract! YAy.
I have had no problems in this school and no issues with my coteachers, they seem happy with me (aside from one KT who is an extrovert and really wants me to be the same way and I'm not. I pass on most socialisation. Not because I don't like them but because after a certain point in my day I just want to be alone because I'm exhausted by having to play the smiley happy foreigner). But just because they seem satisfied with me doesn't mean they are. I don't trust that they are going to come up with a bunch of problems they have with me that they have never communicated before.

On a somewhat related note I seem to be entering a depression. I am possibly in a near constant state of depression (I'm very high functioning, it makes absolutely no impact on my ability to work. I mostly just shut down socially) but it has crept up on me. I'm so tired and unmotivated. It's annoying.

That's rough. I can relate.

Does anyone else go hard all day at work and deliver that primo quality teaching life, and then you get home and you're just fried and exhausted. Every. Day. And then you still have to do laundry, dishes, grocery shopping, etc, and every day is exactly the same, and you're exhausted forever?

I'm sort of worried about the renewal time, but also not really - I want to go over to Japan next year, or the year after; but only if I can get a public school job lined up, if I can't, I'd like to stay here 1 more year.

And yeah, I go hard at work all day, I always get home exhausted. I go to Homeplus everyday, because I'm often so tired when I do groceries I forget to buy things haha.
I do laundry often, but sometimes forget about it after it has been washed.
Dishes I frequently do as well, except Friday nights, I like to give myself 1 night off in regards to cleaning.

Also, to stick to the thread topic:
Does anyone else find that fresh foods (fruit / veges / meat) don't last long here? I bought some pork last night, looked really good. Took a 10 min taxi ride home, put it onto my kitchen bench to cook for dinner. Unpacked my bag, and done a couple other things, came back 20 mintues later, to find that parts of it had started to turn a green like colour. >.< It was still sealed up as well, and I clean my kitchen on a daily basis, right after I do my dishes. So not sure what the deal was. >.<

Yeah, pork goes green sometimes. It's not a big deal. You can still eat it.

I didn't know that. I've never seen raw pork go green either. I threw it away because I thought it had somehow already spoiled haha :/ At least I know now.
