Online Teaching: Grade 4 Lessons
« on: December 01, 2009, 08:46:19 am »
I'll just post all my online lessons I did for Grade 4 on this thread. I tried to stay close to the curriculum they had at school, so only the first 4 lessons but it was nearly impossible to fill all that time (and as you can see there is alot of filler!)

So after my first introductory class (see earlier post) this is what I did with the kiddies. This slide includes alphabet review to the letter M.

When I show the CD, I do all the voices in the dialogue since the audio doesn't carry into the online classroom environment.

2nd lesson for my online Gr 4 class. For the "How's the weather" slide, just circle one of the pictures and have the students practice the expression for each picture (its sunny, it's snowy etc) the reverse it. You say the expresssion and have the students circle the correct picture. Includes links for youtube videos about the weather and a video actually uploaded from the curriculum, then one with Toto and the Sea King. Also includes more review of the alphabet, teaching the students another word for each letter. I had the students practice drawing the letters (small and capital) with their "pencil" on the slide.

3rd lesson for my online Gr 4 class.

This slides starts the "Don't Do That" unit. I added "No, I'm not Ok. I hurt my _______" to this lesson and practiced body parts with the students. This way if they actually did hurt themselves, they could answer and not just parrot, "Yes, I'm Ok."

On slides where I have words and pictures, I have the students draw a line between the correct word and the correct picture. Same with the body, I have the students draw a line from the word to the correct body part. I also reviewed the plural forms: 1 eye, 2 eyes, 1 foot, 2 feet etc. It's also a good slide for asking "How many __________?" (fingers/toes/ears etc)

This class is mostly just review of the previous lesson but I'll post it anyways.

The answers for the hangman games are
1) I like singing!
2) Watch out!

The kids also really enjoyed the word search at the end.

Next in Line in the gr 4 series I did in 2009, this includes more alphabet review, where the students have to circle draw a line to the correct picture from the letter.

My 7th online class includes: Clapping activity, days of the week, counting slides and introduction to telling time! (This became a great time filler, you will see a lot of TIME related slides from here on out!)
