I just ordered a new laptop from Apple's Korean website and the checkout experience was as simple as it would be in any other country!

Things are getting better for e-commerce here.

Last week I took my Mac to the Authorised Apple repair centre (UBASE) in Gwangju and it was like dealing with a concrete wall, blessed with down syndrome, an IQ of 48 and the communicative skills of an Hikikomori.

With the 'Staingate' issue affecting many Macbook screens, I'd strongly advise against purchasing Apple hardware in Korea if you're planning on staying long enough that said device will need repairs or maintenance.

I have heard that service can be a pain.  I have a friend who flies to Shanghai for service.

There is also an Apple Store scheduled for November launch.

It's a replacement for my wife's 2011 vintage MacBook Air. My 2006 Mac Mini is still in daily use.

Can you say phthalate five times fast?

You read the Atlantic, don't you J n' M?

Since slipping a little phonics into the lessons it's the first time I've ever had a camp where all the kids can read. Even the lowest level kids! And 'cos they could read they were willing to talk, too!

Life is good.

I think Emart carries it now as well.

First day back and I've got a new desk set up. Smaller, not much space behind, but desk is taller and so is the chair! Happy days :) No more aching hips!

My local LotteMart is selling Tanqueray No.10 gin for the same price as Bombay Sapphire, the latter is overpriced and the former is well under priced so I'll swoop and get myself a couple of bottles of that fine No.10.

Just out of interest how much are they in Lottemart? I think it was 36K in Emart which made me cry a little bit. Damn my Britishness and need for gin.

As a gin lover myself, the only problem with if you want a quick G&T is that the Korean version of tonic water is really quite sweet.  Doesn't have the bite of Schweppes.     Gin festivals in England are really taking off.  My sister-in-law went to one recently which had 110 different kinds of gin.
