Games, games, games
« on: November 18, 2009, 12:12:13 pm »
This is a demo-class I gave several years ago entitiled...Help my class is over and I still have 10 minutes left!

There are games that you can just play for 10 minutes and games that can last the whole class if you want.

Some of them I made into powerpoints but you don't need to do it as a powerpoint... for example Gimme 5 is a powerpoint but if you print out the Gimme 5 list you can just use that instead

Clever! I'm going to use some of these with my low level High School students today. Thanks a ton!

Love the games.

I did a similar game called Name 3 Things.

I used the attached PPT to introduce the lesson. I walk through the slides asking the class to name 2 things based on the prompt.

At first the slide has the written instructions. This is for higher level learners.

Then a image appears. This helps lower level students understand.

Then 1 example appears. This helps the lowest level students understand.

I go through the entire PPT so the students understand the exercise.

Then I let the students work in pairs to Name 3 Things using the attached game board.

Give me 5

I have to make my own lessons for 40 grade 3 students and today I played "Give me 5" and it worked wonderfully. The students were so focused on being the first to win. They were in groups of four and each group has one advanced student that helps with English.

I spent the whole class on this activity. Very successful. Thanks for the idea.
