Hey!!
Actually I am that far along! I'm so glad you posted this. I was really struggling to think of something to do. That "sound game" is a great idea!! Thanks!! I'm excited to see how how my classes will go!!

I'm surprised that this thread is so empty... Are people still on vacation?

Here's an illustrative PPT, a grid-based bomb game and a fill-in-the-dialog worksheet. You'll have to change the picture in the PPT :)

That song guessing PPT was awesome, so I made another one.
This PPT uses English pop songs.  I'm pretty sure 5th graders know Michael Jackson and maybe the Beatles.  They'll have to guess on the rest of the songs.
If anyone's uncomfortable with letting 5th graders listen to rap, you can delete the last 2 slides.

Grade 5 Lesson 9
« Reply #9 on: August 25, 2010, 03:21:32 pm »
Hey guys, finally looking to give back:

For 9.2 instead of singing, i am planning on doing the powerpoint attached and instead of the guessing game i'm going to do the ghostbusters game attached

9.3 instead of look and listen i'm going to do pass the ball, but they have to pass it left and right and whatever row the ball lands on that entire row has to say what's on the screen. i made a pretty lazy version as you will see after downloading the 1st ppt, but you can easily add in a couple other pics.

also, for 9.3 game i'm going to have 6 groups. each group puts 2 items (erasers, pencils, etc) into a bag. 1 student chooses 1 item out of the bag and asks "is this yours" to 3 groups. if he gets it right on the 1st try-9 points, 2nd try-6 points, 3rd try-3 points

for 9.4 game i'm doing a very similar game where 1 person leaves the room and an object is given to 1 person. when he comes back in he says "is this yours" and the entire class says "no it isn't". the louder they say "no it isn't" the closer he is to finding the object. i usually time it and the fastest team wins.

I must be an idiot, but how do you play the game? wouldn't the kids see whose picture you click on?

I modified the bomb game and Who's song is it? (thank you creators and up loaders)

Bombgame
I added three slides. Start the slide show and click on the top left-hand corner.  Rules and key phrases will be displayed and end.  Then do the slide show again and play game as usual.

Who's song is this?
Slight modifications on first two slides (Students loved this game)
