Journal Entry
« on: September 22, 2009, 12:22:30 pm »
Hi Everyone!
One of my co-teachers asked me to include more of a writing focus in future lessons.  I have low-to high level students and would like to ask the students to write about their Chuseok holiday.  Has anyone did a similar lesson on writing a journal or diary?  I would love any ideas.

Thank you in advance.

Have a good day!
Kelsey

Hey Lindsay, I just put together a similar lesson this week. I teach high school, so I'm not sure if it will help you. But I just put together a powerpoint comparing Chuseok and Western Thanksgiving. I ask the students to tell me what the traditional foods and activities are for Chuseok (to do this I had a student or two write what the students are yelling out in Korean on the board, then I go back have the students translate the korean into english, and I write the enligh on the board next to it.) Then I hand out an outline of a poster for Chuseok and ask them to fill in the poster with information that would tell a foreigner about Korean Chuseok. I asked them to write a diamonte poem in the middle because we covered those recently, but you could have them write anything you want in that space. Let me know if this sounds like something you could use and I'll upload the files.

I would be interested in the powerpoint, if your offer extends to everyone.
