Hello, as per request I'm uploading some thoughts on the new look from a personal message to the main board.
I'm not picky, and have thought the site always looked good. I enjoyed the pictures that used to be atop the page, and think that would be a nice addition.
The site still looks a little unusual to me, but perhaps that's because I'm using Internet Explorer 6. You'll see part is cut off by the margin on the left, and you'll see that the text on the right extends below the blue bar, making it a little hard to read.
It's important to have the site name on the page, but it's not really necessary to keep it local to Jeollanam-do. Most of the people from our original class of 2006 are gone, and few of them used this site anyway. Back when I pushed hard to make this THE one-stop online shop for Jeollanam-do, THE top Jeollanam-do resource, there was little interest, so I'm not really interested in trying that again. People from all over the country use this site, and the busiest contributors here are among them.
I think making registration a prerequisite for downloading is a good idea. There are only a handful of regular contributors here, yet the good lessons are getting hundreds of downloads. Sharing is important, and that's why we do the site, but the people who give should also be able to receive.
I've mentioned to the administrator that I think we should eventually institute mandatory posting. That is, if people want to keep their membership they need to post. These lessons are getting hundreds of views but little feedback, and I think requiring people to participate would be a good idea.
As I've said before, suggestions and recommendations are always welcome. This is your site after all.
