Hello New Mokpo waeguks,
I've been here for about four months, and you can usually find me at any of the sporting events. We're all quite bad at the sports so if you're a first-timer you should fit right in and you'll probably even look good trying your hand at whatever sport.
So the cold weather hasn't really arrived yet so until then it looks like we'll all still be playing:
Jokku (soccer-based tennis game, with teams) Monday nights at 8pm
Soccer (half-court) Tuesday nights at 6pm
Bowling Wednesday nights at 6pm
Ultimate Frisbee Thursday nights at 6pm
If you're not already, you should try and get on the mailing list for game announcements. Ask a friend, or PM me if you want.
Some of the foreigners like to go to the foreigners bar, PBar(Hadang neighborhood) on Friday nights around 11pm or so. The four popular foreigner bars in Mokpo are:
Woodstock
PBar
Wa Bar
New York Bar
When the weather gets really cold, I'll be re-starting a board games cafe club that was somewhat popular in the summer. Scrabble, chess (beginners, and I teach chess to newbies)
I'm also studying Korean so if you want to learn or if you have a Korean co-teacher who speaks too little English to help, I'm happy to help out with a translation or phrase here and there.
Welcome to Mokpo!
Emanuel
