Elementary school teachers' guides in English.

Here is this link again to the English-language versions of the teachers' guides in your schools.  It seems to change every few months, and thanks to Ellen at the "Elementary School Teachers in Jeollanamdo, Korea" Facebook group for digging it up again.

Hi everyone

Has anyone found the guides for the new curriculum for Elementary Grades 3 and 4? My co-teacher doesn't know where to find them and the books haven't arrived yet either...

I just got the books, but I haven't got the CD's or the Teacher's guides yet. 

My coteacher translated the little note on the page with all the chapter titles.  It says the chapters are the same from the old book, but chapters 3, 6, 9, and 12 are new.  They are review chapters for the preceding two chapters.  Lastly, chapters 13-16 are all brand new.

I've just found out today that the guides won't be translated into English. That's helpful!

My co-teacher wants me to meet with each teacher each week to discuss the plan together but I don't have time (I work in a tiny school and have to make 21 lesson plans a week as it is).

I'm under the impression that some elementary teachers' co-teachers just use the Korean teacher's guide as a script and then the native teacher does an activity at the end. Can you tell me if that's the case? I need to try to argue this idea with my co-teacher...

I teach all of the classes and sometimes the Korean teacher stays in the classroom - bummer that we can't get the new guides - at least the 8 chapters from last year are the same - I guess we will all have to "figure it out"

If you go to http://www.gamedu.co.kr you should be able to download the contents of what's on the 3rd and 4th grade CDs.

I really feel the most important stuff in the guides are on the title/syllabus/overview pages at the start of the chapter. In the case of grades 3 and 4, the key parts of this in the Korean guidebooks are:
a) going to be in English anyway (language goals at that level are explicitly stated)
b) copypasta that you can kinda figure out on one page with your phone-dictionary then grab a highlighter and uhm... transcribe that to the other pages.

Bearing that in mind, does anybody please have a digital copy of the complete Korean teachers guides for 3 and 4? I'd love to get my hands on them. I've only got hard copies and even then, I'm not free to peruse them.

My schools do not want me to have a copy of the syllabus, which is creating communication problems with the students: I don't know what I can expect the non-hagwon attendees to have learnt and I'm having to constantly guess specific target language before they'll understand.

does anyone have the complete English Guide for Grade 4?  From Units 9 on?  I am new to teaching Elementary in the public school system in Korea and am a bit confused.  Thanks a bunch

There are no English Teacher's Guide's for 3rd and 4th Grade this year (March 2010-Feb. 2011).

Last year (Before March 2010), they made English Teacher's Guides for all grades.  Also, we only met once a week with 3rd and 4th grade.  Twice a week with 5th and 6th grade.

However, this year they changed 3rd and 4th grade to 2 times per week, bought new books, and didn't make an English version for us foreign teachers. 

So, sorry, but there are no English teacher's guides for 3rd and 4th grade lessons: 3, 6, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
However, there are Korean Teacher's guides for these lessons.

I don't.  I don't have the teacher's guide either.  That's why I would love to get an e-copy of the first lessons for grade 5 and 6. pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.

Unfortunately, the actual files are in .swf (flash) format. Here are the individual pages for the first lesson for each grade anyway, if you want to open them one page at a time in your browser (you can right-slick to zoom in, at least).

Also, a heads-up: I don't know if you have your textbooks yet, but the 6th grade book has a review/"expand on things learned" section before the first lesson that's designed to take up 6 class periods (though, of course, particularly diligent students could probably do it in one or 2). Fifth grade does not have such a section, nor is it covered in the teacher's guide.

When I click on the link for the PDF of the 5th grade English guide it has some sort of error (says I'm off limits to the post?). Anyone have another link to the pdf so I can view it?

I've been printing them out as full size pages.  You might want to check your printer's settings.  Hope it works out.

When I click on print preview it all looks fine. Everything else I print, either from an internet browser or word works fine. I've tried IE and Chrome and have the same problems. I'll try a different machine, maybe I've just got a gremlin.
