Using Google Earth in a lesson.

I've been trying to think of how I could incorporate more interactive/interesting media such as Google Earth into a lesson plan for the future. I was thinking of maybe making a lesson based on finding directions or asking for directions. But I'm wondering if anyone has better ideas.

I wanted to do a lesson on planets/space/solar system etc. you might be able to do something like that...I also did a lesson already on continents and oceans, you could show them places you have been or where you live back home, and where you are now etc.

I used GoogleMaps for giving directions.  It was great.  I pinpointed the school with the satellite feature.  They thought that was cool.  Then I picked some easily identifiable features around the school (palma stadium, homeplus, lotte cinema, train station, etc..). They had to give directions to it.  I could follow along as they gave directions with the cursor.  If there was time left, I would show them my house (most of canada and all of the us has streetview) or KoreaTown in Toronto (Euclid and Bloor).   Good times!!
