I'm a big fan of public transportation, and I hope I'm not alone in this.
The subway that services Seoul and Gyeonggi province is massive. It dwarfs anything I've seen in Hong Kong, Taipei, and Southeast Asia. It's getting bigger. In 2005 they started a huge operation to put in more lines, more stops, and to connect outlying provinces to Seoul.
Here's a map of what the new subway will look like. If you haven't been to Seoul, it won't mean anything. But it's mind-boggling to see that you soon can travel to Chuncheon (in Gangwon province) via the subway. Also, Cheon-an, two provinces north of us, is connected. My old neighborhood will even be connected to Incheon airport. (It'd be insanely inconvenient, but it's still aweinspiring.)
