all of these have worked for me.
some of them are derived from the JLP resource book, some of them come from bogglesworld, some of them come from my brain (hard to believe)
also, most of the files are just the activity. usually it's straight forward about what to do with it, but if you want more details on what I did, just ask.

Hey,

So this is teacher's workshop I did that went pretty well. I have all female co-teachers who really like to about family, babies, fashion etc etc. It's a really simple workshop and I didn't put that much effort in but it took forever (My workshops are an hour and 45 minutes) to go over every detail about weddings and the differences with Korean weddings. They really enjoyed it and for once got into long discussions in English. Anyways maybe you can take it and adjust it to your liking.

I planned my first teacher workshop today and it went really well so I wanted to share it with you guys.  As I'm sure many of you already know about www.breakingnewsenglish.com, you may recongnize these articles.

I started with the bizarre names worksheet.  There were a few of the names that I needed to explain but in general they had a good time trying to figure out what was strange about each name.  They found them amusing and were really proud of themselves when they figured them out.  Afterwards, they spent some time telling me about funny Korean names they knew.  This was a fun exercise to get them speaking and warmed up.

Next, we read the short "Sleeping is Life's Greatest Pleasure" article and I gave them each a copy of the complete list of 50.  They enjoyed reading, discussing, and laughing about them.  I took time to point out the differences between the British English in the article and the North American English that they would normally hear from me.  This article is good because there are lots of discussion topics that can follow from it.  We discussed which they think are the most pleasurable/least pleasurable, which are common in Korea (almost all of them) and which would be strange here, what we think is missing from the list, etc.

Hopefully this will get your co-workers talking!

Thanks for posting this, using it today!

I feel really dense, but there are a few names that just aren't clicking for me. Mind spelling them out?  ::)

Ya, I meant to post on this before.   This was a great way to fill some time in and it generated good conversation.

I also added some of my own names on the list, such as Harry Dick.........I've actually seen people with this name.

Came across this interesting blog that explains some of the misleading English words. Thought it could inspire some topics or discussions in teacher workshops, enjoy!

I added Dr. Hearten-Greaven (prounounced Hurtin'-Grievin') to the list... my actual dentist's actual name from when I was a teen.

Sorry, just saw your post today.  I used the bizzarre names with my KETs, I think it would be too difficult to use with my other teacher workshops.  However, the "greatest pleasures" article I have used with all teachers as well as my English club.
