teaching homeroom teachers english
« on: April 10, 2011, 09:13:10 pm »
I have been teaching for 3 years at an elelmentary school. This is my 4th year. At this school, they want me to teach the Korean homeroom teachers. This is my first time so I do not know where to start. I am looking at the University level forum and I want to ask other people if they have any ideas for me to use for my first class of teaching this week. thank you
I am posting this on university forum because korean teachers knows all teh basic. I think they can handle the unistersity standards.  thank you

Just a word of caution, it's nice that you believe all of the teachers at your school will be able to understand university level English.  Whether or not that is a correct assumption, I would advise you to still be very flexible about participation in the class because some teachers may not want to speak during your lessons.

I'm surprised that no one has replied yet to this post but from what I can tell, many people who teach adult classes often use the website breakingnewsenglish.com

Good luck ^^

Ask them what they want to know...and it can't hurt by starting with the basisc...let them write a short paragraph introducing themselves...who they are, where they are from, what are their jobs specifics, what are their favorites? hobbies, etc...then, make them come to the front/or in their groups orally communicate their paragrapphs...they can help each other...learn from each other...

with this you can get a feel for their level(s) and move on from there...
