Air Canada bans pets from flights

Hi guys!
Thought some of you with pets might be interested in reading this article about Air Monopoly (Air Canada). Apparently they're starting to ban pets from flights.

I heard about this. Air Canada sucks anyways. The couple whose dog died needs to sue for huge coin.

I'd feel strange about putting an animal through that anyway.  I am leaving Sophie here with a good owner, she'll better off.  It wouldn't really make a difference to her if I brought her back with me, other than make her go through 15 hours of needless torture.

I disagree - the 15 hours of "torture" is far better than what might happen to them if they stay in a country like Korea with its reputation for extreme animal cruelty. Sophie is a purebred Persian and probably won't be boiled up as a cure for arthritis.

We brought our cat home from Saudi Arabia on a horrendous flight that included his cage being misplaced in transit and a 2-week quarantine. He lived on quite happily for another 10 years in Canada.

Ultimately, it's a personal choice. Although the ideal would be for everyone to keep the animals that they adopt here, I understand that it is not realistic for everyone to do so (especially when Quarantine laws come into play). As an animal lover, it's wonderful to witness all the animal rescues that happen within the foreigner community. We won't solve the problems of animal abuse in Korea, or in our own countries (which are sometimes just as bad, if not worse), but we can at least do our part.

Hear, hear!!! Yes, I never thought I would rescue a cat in Korea, but I couldn't turn a blind eye to his being tied up outside with no shelter and his living on rice. I have heard that some airlines allow pets to be brought on board, not in cargo, but I doubt such airlines include Korean Air. Anyone heard of this?

You're right, it's quite possibly better in the long run, but not always realistic or even possible. Although she's a purebred, I think even Sophie may have had a traumatizing experience with her previous owners (or at the shelter).  This is the concern I have with finding a good owner, I don't want her to somehow fall into bad hands after she's been rescued.  I wouldn't even consider giving her away to students (fickle minded oafs in the most part), Koreans I don't personally know, or indecisive/emotionally challenged people in general.  Essentially, since I can't bring her with me, I am doing my best with plan B.

At this point, I do have a couple of interested people on the list, but the decision hasn't been made yet.
