here is a cookies PPT that i made for the last elementary afterschool class for 1st semester. the class was a mix of 3rd-6th graders. my co-teacher wanted me to talk about cookies and different shapes. i have images of popular(?) american cookies, ingredients, what can be in a cookie (ie choco chips), what you can put on them (ie frosting, sprinkles), etc. one of the slides has a youtube link to Cookie Monster talking about different shapes.
a follow up game i did was Slap game. i drew different shapes on the board (triangle, square, star...) and split the class of 15 in 2 teams and had each team start at a different side of the line of shapes. the first student at each side then 'slaps' the shape on the board and says what it is. they continue until they meet and do 'rock paper scissors' to determine who gets to continue. loser goes to the end of their line and the person behind them has to start all over. winner can keep going until they lose rock paper scissors.
another game i did was a quasi-pin the tale on the donkey. i made a cookie monster head, taped it to the board, blind folded students and had them try and place a paper cookie in his mouth. all in all, it was a fun lesson
