What Good is a Weed, Lesson 8
Is anyone else working out of this book? Any ideas for lessons? I am doing the Dialogue portion for my first lesson, but then need another one.
I don't have to teach right out of the book, but I need to stick to the theme. Standing up in front of class and teaching the kids the names of flowers sounds like a nightmare.
What are other teachers doing??

That is the most painful chapter in the book. You can do a dictation activity. You read it aloud, they fill in the words. Just make a similar dialogue about something different, using all the same phrases, like "I'm here to help you do your homework. Thanks so much for coming" And on the paper you give them do "I'm _____ to ______ you do your _________ ." I have attached the one I did for Chapter 7 as an example.

You can also do a BAAM game, though they are better for reviewing 2 or 3 units at a time. There isn't a whole lot of material in your part of chapter 8 to work with. http://eflclassroom.ning.com/resources/topics/baam-games-create-some I am making one for Chapter 7 and 8 review now. I'll post it when I am done, though it won't do you much good.

Just a couple of ideas. I am sure somebody else can come up with something better. But yeah, that chapter is rough. I started on it last year.

This is a tough one! I mentioned gardening is a hobby, and that led into a lesson on hobbies.

The first week, I did the dialogue and the dictation that Easy suggested (thanks, Easy) Along with a group fill-in-the-blanks with the dialogue.

Second week, I made it about vocabulary. The PPT is simple, but it might save a teacher some work. The kids have a pretty good time playing the Hot Seat- well, the 10 out of 40 kids who actually participate.
