Hi...
I just wanted to share a game that is really useful for getting students to speak. I tried it with my adult class (ages 16-5?) and it worked wonders.
I called it Speed "date"...
1. each student must write down some (about 4) questions (about ANYthing)
2. arrange the seating so that students are facing each other (ie If you have 20 students, make two rows of 10 chairs opposite each other)
3. Now play music ~ when music is playing students must walk around chairs; when music stops they must find a seat.
4. Whoever they are sitting opposite to, they must ask each other the questions.
etc,etc,etc
At first I thought it wouldn't work for my adults but they actually enjoyed it, especially when the music interrupted their conversations.
While students were deciding on questions I was monitoring and helping them when needed.
To wrap up the activity, I asked them to read their questions out loud and then I commented on the vocab, grammar, structure, etc and also gave them an answer so that they could see how to form Q's & A's.
Hope it's useful!
