The Logo Game - Middle School/High School
« on: August 25, 2010, 02:01:38 pm »
Hey guys,

This site has helped me out in my desperate situations, so I'd like to give back!

I teach Middle School in a rural area on the East Coast.  This lesson has been wonderful for both Summer Classes of 10 students and New Semester Classes of 40 students.

Split the class up into even groups.  Tell them to look at the logo and guess the company name.  Award a point for each correct answer.  Also, ask bonus questions for 2 or 3 points.  For example, 'What country does Family Mart come from?  What is the C in KFC?'  You can either have the first team to 5 wins or run through all the slides and the team with most points wins.

Feel free to expand, shorten, share, etc.  I used Google images for different logos.  Simply save and insert on a new slide.  Sorry about mistakes; like you guys, I'm slowly losing my English while trying to teach it!

Email me if any issue arises.
You get what you give :)

This is good man, this is good. What I'm gonna do is modify the ppt into the 'typhoon' game, which the kids tend to love. So instead of the standard 1 point plus bonus points, teams are stealing and losing points all over the place. Worth it just for the looks on some of their faces.

Ok so here's the modified ppt. It's so straightforward. If it the team that is about to have a go has one of the three 'special' signs pop up before the logo that they guess, they get to steal, or do a typhoon, or whatever the special sign denotes. Teams go from zero to 9 points and back to zero again in a matter of minutes, it gets them fired up.

Furthermore, real thanks to Rob Young because I've been struggling with my two worst (in english ability and attention level) classes and they enjoyed this one and knew English that they didn't realise they knew.
