Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movie summer camp
« on: July 28, 2010, 09:29:58 am »
I made some rough worksheets for the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.  The film is split into 6-15 min sections.  The dialogue is a little fast and the jokes a little too subtle, this film works best with intermediate to high intermediate students.  Even beginners were able to enjoy the slapstick of the film though.

Pretty good. It is kind of hard to find this on the internet, but it's really worth it for a lesson.  Saved me today. :)

Thanks.  I looked for a long time for similar lessons, the only one I found was really good, if not overly detailed.  It is on the movie Shrek and is hosted at grammarmancomics.com

I also stumbed upon Grammarmancomic.com's wonderful Shrek lesson pack. I've been doing it with my after school class (MS boys) and it is going over really well. The activities are good (though I am skipping some so it doesn't take 14 lessons to get through!)
I just wanted to share with anyone else looking for something to do with after school classes! (make sure to get the korean formatted dvd)
The link to it is: http://www.grammarmancomic.com/shrek.html

Hi,

I'm doing a Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs camp with my kids this winter.  Here is some more material to go with the movie in case anyone wants it.
I divided the topics to food and weather.  With key sentences being "My favorite food is..." and "The weather outside is..."
This is geared towards my grade 3-5's elementary.

Here is a colourful intro ppt I made for an "At the Cinema" role-play that I'd like to share.

I have planned a movie day for camp where I will set the classroom out like a movie theater with food stands, movie posters, seats set out in rows etc...

Before the students watch a movie they have to do a short role-play with real snacks/drinks/tickets and fake money.  Before that I will go over key sentences and vocab with the ppt attached including a couple of brain storming activities (one of the activities is detailed in slide 3).

I hope you find it useful!  ;D
