Bomb game- flashcards for chalkboard style game
« on: July 12, 2010, 09:14:53 am »
Found out I had no computer in my first class this morning where we were supposed to play the bomb game so I quickly made a set of flashcards.

I cut these out and pasted them to construction paper then taped them to the black board numbering the columns 1-4 and the rows A-F.

Really good to have these on hand when computers are down!

Can you explain how to play the bomb game?  I don't think I've ever heard of this game. . .

Hi Happysam,

Check the following link for a ppt version of the bomb game...full instructions and questions included...especially good if you are currently working on introductions.

Kids really love the game as it levels the playing field.  Sometimes you have some dynamo kids on a team who can greatly increase their teams score...one bomb or one stick of dynomite can take care of all that!

It also goes by the name of typhoon.  There are a variety of variations and scoring systems...just have fun with it.

I posted the flashcards for if you have no tv/computer.  Put them face down on the chalk/whiteboard.  Students are in teams btw.  Ask a team a question...whatever type you want...intro, cooking, review of whatever you're working on...if the team answers right they pick a card...they get the point value on the other side of the card...could be good...could be bad.

Clear enough?  Good luck with it!

thank you so much! i totally used this for my last class today :) my school's computers usually work, but sometimes they stop functioning for whatever reason. i guess it's 'cause the school is kinda old ^^; anyways, the cards were extremely helpful and my 2nd year students enjoyed the game! ;D i am so happy. it does take a while to tape all the cards up, but oh well. thanks again!

i wasn't sure what the two arrows were though, so i just switched them for another gun and bomb picture and had the gun mean "steal points". the kids loved whenever 'bomb' and 'gun' were drawn

Sorry about that...the doube sided arrows mean switch points with the team of your choice...wicked fun that one!

I use magnets to put mine up...available for cheap at any stationary store!

Glad you enjoyed it!
