Moderator(s) wanted.
« on: July 02, 2010, 11:26:40 am »
Hello,
I'm posting to ask if there is someone---or a couple people---who would like to volunteer a little time to serve as moderator here.  There are only a few of us and the work can pile up quickly.  I've been able to spend increasingly less time here, and I know the others would appreciate a little help, too.

Ideally the moderator will be someone with some experience on the board, and someone who plans to stay teaching in Korea at least through the next year.

For the most part, serving as moderator takes up a few minutes a week.  Your main responsibilities include answering user questions, keeping posts in the proper forums, merging redundant threads, and keeping an eye out for the odd bit of spam.  With the big increase of traffic, we also want to work on making indexes and master lists for lessons, and finding other ways to keep the site organized and make it easy for people to find what they're looking for.

There are times when you may want, or need, to put in a couple hours at a stretch.  Recent examples include importing lessons from the now-defunct EPIK forum, creating indexes for the elementary school lessons, and breaking up the JLP Resource Book into separate lessons.

If anyone is interested, please reply here.  The administrator will check in later to give users the board permissions they need to help behind the scenes.

Thanks.

I'd like to be a moderator.  I'm always on this site anyway. :)

Okay, I've had you and one other person contact me.  I've forwarded your name to the WebAdmin, so hopefully he'll grant the permissions you need soon.

Sorry folks, lots happening on my end here, although I don't really have an excuse since I am doing this a month after the request has been made.  I should have given Brian the rights to assign anyone as a Moderator if he found them helpful and trustworthy of such abundant power (kind of, moderation counts as power right?!), but it had skipped my mind.

I have never acted as a site moderator but would be willing to assist in any way that I am able.

Thanks for that, WebAdmin.  I know how quickly things can add up when you're back home.

If you're still on the hunt, let me know. I have some past moderation experience and spend too much time on the internet :)

If there's still interest in this position, please let myself, Brian, or Dayle know.  We have a couple of spots open.

Will will also likely divide sections, meaning that although a moderator can moderate most sections, they'll be assigned primary boards.

The important ones right now are the various lesson plan boards and sub-boards.

I spend a good amount of time looking at the High School area as well as the Jeollanamdo online program. If I could be of help in those areas I can commit my time.

I would like to do this as well, as I have experience with moderating on yahoo. I am on here all the time anyway and my winter is going to be dull since I am not traveling.  :P
