Securing wireless network
« on: June 21, 2010, 07:33:58 am »
A korean friend of ours set up our wireless network using an IPtime 104 wireless router.  Unfortunately it isn't secured which is something we need to do asap.  He has moved to Seoul and thus is no longer available to help(we live in Beongjeom) the directions are in Korean and we are at a loss.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tor

I do know that to tap into a router in Ireland, you use the local first six digits and then .1.1

For example,

Connect the ethernet cable directly from the computer to the router and type in the web browser \:     192.168.1.1.

The first 6 digits should be different in Korea, but easily enough found out I'm sure. Once your in, it may still be in Korean, but you will see something that looks like a password and you can change it to suit.

Hope this helps in some small way.

Just be careful not to try something unless you're sure of what you're doing. I got a wireless router at my apartment and tried hooking it up... well, long story short, I ended up taking out the entire building's internet for days.

It's probably a safe assumption though that you are more computer literate than me so you might not have the same problem.
