Free On-line Traning Classes
« on: March 04, 2010, 10:22:27 am »
Hey, I was just wondering if anyone else got a memo from their school about a free online training course called EBS English Training.  My co-teacher gave it to me, apparently the Jeollamando Office of Education is paying 80,000 won for all of us to take this course. It is 15 hours, 1.5 hours per day for 10 days. It is March 15-24 or April 12-21.
The website is:
http://ettc.ecampus-global.com

The only problem I have is actually registering for it! It's a Korean made site in English, so of course it doesn't work like it should. Let me know if you can figure it out!

Ha!

My co-teacher told me about this last semester but didn't mention that it would be paid for by JLP. I decided not to pursue it since I didn't want to pay.

I think I'll re-investigate.

Thanks

Hey! I was just wondering if the site confirms it with the education board or if we are supposed to do something?
Thanks!

I'm in Gyeongsang and we were told we had to take the class - my co-teacher signed me up for it without telling me and I only found out that I had to take it last week because I got an e-mail from them - frankly I considered it a waste of time - it is really designed for people who haven't taught yet and is filled with both factual and grammatical errors - I sweated because they kept warning me that the test would count for 30% of the grade and it turned out to be ten multiple choice questions from the previous quizzes

I just finished the first round of this. I was told that Jeonnam POE would pay but ended up paying myself for some reason. Apparently I will get reimbursed (yeah, right!).

The course is a bit of a joke, although there is some interesting stuff in there. Check your understanding of grammar at the door and enjoy.

Hi,

So I am curious if anyone knows if Public school teachers in the Gyeongsangnam province have to pay for the Online Training class on this website ettc.ecampus-global.com.

Their website displays the information at the bottom of the message but my province is omitted from the list etc....

I did call Sanghui Park's number someone told me to talk with my school about payment. I will do that but I am totally thinking my school is going to tell me I am supposed to pay for it. I was  wondering what other Gyeongsangnam-do teacher's experience was.

Hey-

I'm with GEPIK in Suwon and I had to do it.  It's really easy.  It a video lesson and you can fly through them in a day by listening to the videos while working on other stuff and answer the quiz at the end of each module and then take the final test of 20 questions (I think.).  I'm in my second year so the info would've been more useful to me during my first year here but what're you gonna do?

I think the govt sends your school a certificate or something when you complete it.
