Why don't you take the time to find out where someone is first! I have been in Korean for 10 years and just a few people will actually ask where I'm from.

How?

Seriously, that's about as common a question in Korea as you can get.

The same why we do back home, by asking a simple question. Where are you from?   I have been asked this question in very country that I have visited, except Korea. If a Korean visits New Zealand, they'll label a Kiwi as a foreigner.

How have you not been asked that question? It's like number 2 on the Most Asked Kestions List. Do you look like you could be Korean?

I think it's because we are told the term 외국인 means foreigner, yet when I hear it used, it's real meaning is actually non-Korean.

Can you get real Chinese food? I haven't been able to find 짜장면 or 짬뽕 anywhere!!

Well certainly not at Chef Wok or Shanghai Palace with its authentic offerings such as General Tso's Chicken and beef with broccoli and a fortune cookie.

But hey, those are niche restaurants. Most of us back home go to the authentic places where we get things like beef tripe and chicken gizzard.

That was my point.

Nah, waygookin doesn't actually translate as foreigner, it's really "non-Korean". People (both Korean and non-Korean) often translate it as foreign for simplicity.

"Good news: I got a new computer - much cheaper than I would have paid at home.

Bad news: The store clerk never asked me how many payments and just charged the whole amount! I am freaking out now! I don't know how to deal with this! How are [US/Canadian/UK] banks about late payments? I had planned to pay it off over 6 months.  What should I do?"

"Don't worry. They probably automatically signed you up for overdraft protection. The banks got your back! And if you find their very reasonable fees are still too much for you, try any strip mall payday loan establishment. Instant cash!"

Everyone is so fat.

This!

In my recent trip to Ontario I was disgusted by the omnipresence of fat / obese people. It's completely out of control. Fat is ugly! It's ugly on me and it's ugly on others. And it's incredibly unhealthy. We're taking diversity too far when we no longer distinguish between ugly / beautiful and healthy / unhealthy. It's all good! (No, it isn't.)

I need to lose weight. I'm working on it. I just don't understand how so many Westerners just let themselves get fatter, fatter, and fatter. Lose weight people.

I'm from the West and I'm shocked by fat people when I go home. I can easily imagine east Asians being shocked by it and commentating on it.

If you're fat, you SHOULD lose weight. I'm entitled to think that, and you're entitled to ignore me, that's my philosophy. And I'm not obligated to find anyone attractive, that's up to me to decide.

Massive people are not beautiful due to their size, in the same way that if I got hit with a shovel in the face 3 times, I wouldn't try and pass myself off as a model.

Although I am a cis straight white(ish) man in relatively good shape due to my own choices (scum I know), I am still one with the struggle. That being said I find your post...... triggering

Triggering a diet, I hope.

I said more than once that I find fat on myself ugly. So why is it 'triggering' to state that I also find it ugly on others? Fat is ugly. It's not beautiful and it's not healthy. And in Canada, with universal healthcare, it's a burden on the social system. Like smoking there is nothing positive to be said about being fat. Some people have medical conditions, or inherited DNA, that contribute to being overweight. I understand that and I respect that. But the vast majority are fat by choice.

People can be fat if they want, but don't expect me to think it isn't ugly. We've been born with beautiful bodies, why turn something beautiful into something ugly?

And yes, Mr. Trump, you are the fattest American president in living memory. You need to go on a diet.

Clinton

Anyways, you mean to tell me that none of you ever have gone chubby-chasing?

I agree that the fat-shaming is a good thing and people need to get off their duff, at the same time, no reason to be a total hater. Be a shamer not a hater.

Honestly I was having quite a pleasant Monday until I read this. How is it 2017 and racists like this still feel comfortable to spout their hatred?

There's no way he's for real. The word "racist" tipped me off.
