Need help learning a phrase.
« on: January 11, 2017, 01:41:10 PM »
I have two dogs.  Both are super friendly and don't bite or even growl.  When walking them I sometimes see people moving away from them.  I want to learn how to say Please don't worry they're friendly but I'm unsure.  Any help is appreciated.

Koreans have an innate fear of dogs.  My students are terrified of them, even tiny ones.  Why they have such a visceral reaction I don't know.

Best just let people get out of your way.

Yeah. I have bright orange leash for my bigger dog.  Still want to learn the phrase.

Maybe 걱정하지마세요. 괜찮아요. 착해요. (Don't worry. It's okay. They're nice).

I have relatives here in Korea who have a Jindo dog. They were surprised I wasn't scared of such a "big" dog.

Curious as to why my last post was not approved.

Some Korean people just don't like dogs and some dislike them so much that if given a chance will harm any stray or unattended dogs.  People may move away from you. Exsusw they do not like dogs or have an allergy or just outright fear (possibly from a bad experience).

While I have 2 dogs myself I don't see any need to try and force them upon people who want nothing to do with them and indicate such by moving away or crossing to avoid being in close proximity to them.

So step back and rethink why you want to say this phrase to strangers when you know nothing about why they are not inclined to be near your pups.

Let people do as they wish in regards to interacting or not, with you and your dogs, and not try to impose your wish for your dogs to be loved and appreciated by everyone.  It's a tad selfish.
