Halloween Lessons

I just did a Halloween lesson with my 1st and 2nd grade boys. They really got into this as there was drawing involved!

First we talked about Halloween, what they knew and didn't know.
Then we went over the vocab together.

On the back of the vocab sheet, I had a big haunted house:

We reviewed different vocab such as tree, roof, window, bush...

I then wrote a sample sentence "There is a ____ on the ____."
cat roof
Everyone had to draw the cat on their sheet. Then I had volunteers tell everyone where the next creature was. (class repeated after the student).

They really got into it as they were able to be creative and they really loved drawing!!

Great ppt, I wish I saw it a couple of days ago.

Not trying to be antagonistic, just why no mention of Britain and Ireland in the slide 'Halloween is a festival celebrated in America'? That is of course where it originates and still celebrated today. Halloween was introduced in America in the 19th century, most influentially as a result of mass immigration due to the Irish famine. Just saying...

I was wondering if somebody might say this... I'm english, not american the point i was making is that I don't celebrate or care about it and neither do any of my friends. So I felt like distancing myself from it when explaining it to my students, saying that I don't do it. I can remember throwing eggs at houses sometimes though.
